Starting from December 1, Google will begin removing inactive Gmail accounts.

Google to Delete Millions of Inactive Gmail Accounts and Photos on December 1

Google has announced plans to delete inactive Gmail accounts and associated photos starting December 1, as reported by PCMag and other sources. The tech giant had previously announced the news earlier this year, but the looming December 1 deadline has now come into focus.

An inactive account, according to Google, is one that hasn’t been used within a two-year period. This includes actions such as signing in, reading or sending an email, using Google Drive, watching a YouTube video, sharing photos, downloading an app, and searching while signed in.

It’s important to note that this policy only applies to personal accounts, not those tied to an employer, school, or other organization. Once an account is deemed inactive, Google may delete all of the account’s content and data, including Google Photos, Google Calendar events, Google Docs, and emails.

However, Google has stated that they will send notifications to the inactive account and a recovery email if there is one, before any deletion takes place. Some exceptions to this policy include accounts used to purchase items on the Google Play store or those with a gift card balance.

If you have an inactive Gmail account and want to prevent your data from being deleted, make sure to log in before December 1. This will ensure that your account and associated content remain intact.
