Record 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is all set to defend his crown, after winning last year’s men’s singles tournament, beating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. ‘Djoker’ has won four of the last five Australian Open titles, with Rafael Nadal lifting the trophy in 2022.

Steve Smith plays tennis with Serbian star Novak Djokovic

Ahead of the 2024 edition, Djokovic took part in a promotional event — with a special guest. Star Australian cricketer Steve Smith joined the Serbian on court for a chat and a few exhibition shots, with a bumper crowd present at the court.

To the suprise of everyone present, Smith calmly returned a solid serve from Djokovic, prompting wild applause and recognition from the tennis star himself. Cricket fans alos got involved online, with a few suggesting that Smith should take on Indian star Virat Kohli next.

Djokovic also tried his hand out at cricket, but unsurprisingly did not have much success with the willow in hand.

Is it too late to add him to the test squad?! From the sounds of it the selectors are open to trying things out…@DjokerNole • #AusOpen • #AO2024 pic.twitter.com/VAJq2KFShr
