Pakistan fans raise further suspicions about the DRS following Joe Root’s dismissal against India

Posted on October 29, 2023 By Haley Bennett

India vs England: India Takes on England in World Cup Match

In an exciting match on Sunday, India faced off against England in the sixth match of the World Cup held in Lucknow. The game started with India batting first after being put in by Jos Buttler. Despite losing three early wickets, the Men in Blue showed resilience and managed to score 229/9, thanks to impressive performances by Rohit Sharma (87) and Suryakumar Yadav (49).

Responding to India’s score, England found themselves in trouble as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami reduced them to 39/4. Joe Root, the star batsman, had a short-lived innings, getting dismissed for a golden duck after an LBW decision was upheld by the third umpire. This decision raised skepticism among some fans.

The dismissal of Joe Root has caused doubts among Pakistan fans regarding the accuracy of the Decision Review System (DRS). Former Pakistani cricketer Tanveer Ahmed, now working as a pundit, expressed his doubts on social media. Ahmed questioned whether there might have been bias towards the host nation, India, in the decision-making process. He suggested that Root should not have been given out LBW, arguing that there might have been an edge off the bat.

However, the replay analysis showed that the spike on UltraEdge occurred before the ball reached the bat. This indicated that the spike was likely caused by the batter’s shoes scratching the ground. Both the third umpire, Ahsan Raza, and Tanveer Ahmed, who is Pakistani, came to the same conclusion.

This incident raises further concerns about the “umpire’s call” category in third umpire decisions. Just days ago, fans and experts were already questioning this category, as they felt that Pakistan had been denied a win in another match against South Africa due to the umpire’s call.

In the upcoming matches, India, Australia, and South Africa are among the top favorites to win the 2023 World Cup. The current odds from Dafabet are as follows:

– India: 2.15
– Australia: 5.00
– South Africa: 4.75
– New Zealand: 7.00
– Pakistan: 29.00

If you think you can predict the winner of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, you can place your bets on Dafabet.

Stay tuned for more thrilling matches and updates from the World Cup.
