Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), two-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), are gearing up for the upcoming IPL 2024 player auction. The IPL 2024 player auction will be held outside India for the first time in the competition’s history. The event is set to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marking a significant shift for the league.
The auction is scheduled to be held on December 19, 2023. Teams have until November 26 to finalize the list of players they will retain and release, which will determine the player pool for the auction.
The BCCI has increased the team salary cap by INR 5 crores, allowing all teams to spend INR 100 crores on their entire squad. Kolkata Knight Riders currently have INR 1.65 crore remaining in their purse, but the final figures will be revealed when the franchise submits their official release and retained list of players on November 26.
In preparation for the auction, KKR has reportedly released several players from their squad, including Andre Russel, N. Jagadeesan, Lockie Ferguson, David Weise, and Mandeep Singh. However, official confirmation is pending.
The IPL 2024 player auction will take place at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai, marking the first time that the auction will be conducted outside India.
