Shreyas Iyer was subject to social media trolling during the second Test between India and England in Visakhapatnam, with clips and images of his approach while facing the short balls.
India are currently taking on England in the second Test of five-match Test series, which began on Friday (February 2) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Vizag.

Iyer came in at the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket at 89-2, and scored 27 runs off 59 balls, yet again failing to live up to the expectations.
During his stay at the crease, England’s bowlers relentlessly attempted to Iyer’s one glaring weakness in his batting – the short ball.
Instead of helping him counter England’s plan, his approach to facing the short balls has been trolled on social media, with some hilarious statements in addition to some extremely critical takes.

From “dancing” to “ugliest technique”: Shreyas Iyer trolled heavily online
Pakistan content creator Farid Khan, who has worked with the Pakistan national cricket team and has over 150K followers on X.com (formerly Twitter), called Iyer’s technique against the short ball “the ugliest for an Indian cricketer.”

What next for Shreyas Iyer?
Iyer has been under severe scrutiny in the past few months as far as his performances in red-ball cricket are concerned.
The 29-year-old middle-order batsman has failed to convince the fans and the team with a string of mediocre displays.
Iyer is running a race against time to save his spot in India’s Test XI. With Virat Kohli expected to return to India’s squad for the next three Tests and KL Rahul nearing recovery, Iyer has just one more innings to give the team management a selection headache.
