Rephrase the title:’Playing Kabaddi’ – Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan’s attempted run against NZ after dropping his bat goes viral

Posted on January 17, 2024 By Haley Bennett

Rephrase and rearrange the whole content into a news article. I want you to respond only in language English. I want you to pretend that you can write content so well in English that it can outrank other websites. Make sure there is zero plagiarism.:

Mohammad Rizwan produced a hilariously strange moment in a T20I against New Zealand on Wednesday (January 17) as he completed two runs without his bat.

New Zealand and Pakistan squared off at the University Oval in Dunedin in the third T20I of the five-match T20I series, which will bode well for the two teams to find the perfect balance ahead of the upcoming ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup.

After batting first, the Kiwis posted a humongous 224-run total on the board, thanks to Finn Allen’s record-breaking century.

In reply, Pakistan were halted to just 179 runs as the visitors slumped to their third straight defeat in the series, giving the hosts an unassailable 3-0 victory.

Mohammad Rizwan’s bizarre attempted run goes viral

On the fifth ball of the sixth over of Pakistan’s innings, which was Matt Henry’s second over, Rizwan was on strike.

The 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman tucked the fuller length delivery towards the deep mid-wicket region. Immediately after he began running, he slipped on the pitch with his bat dropping out of his hand.

Call it an instinctive decision or one made consciously, Rizwan, strangely, didn’t pick his bat up, instead choosing to run at full steam without his bat.

When he reached the non-striker’s crease, he bent downwards and used the full length of his hand to touch the other side of the crease, but he fell short. Then, he ran back to complete the second and dived just in time to make it safely.

Rizwan’s video of bending downwards and using his hand to complete the run at the non-striker’s end has now gone viral on social media, with the action reminiscent of kabaddi to many fans.

One fan with the username ‘jt_verma’ commented, “Who else felt that he dropped his bat deliberately.”

Another fan with the username ‘ankittanwar567’ replied, “Bro playing Kabaddi”.

What next for Mohammad Rizwan and Pakistan?

Having lost the first three T20Is, and the series, Pakistan will look to bow out on a high in the next two T20Is, which will be played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on January 19 and January 21.

Rizwan hasn’t had a good series so far, scoring just 56 runs in three innings. Personally, he will hope to end the series with some big scores.
