Former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has given the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) open threats about exposing them after being sacked as the Director of PCB.

On Thursday,February 15, Hafeez was relieved of his duties as the PCB Director, just months after being appointed for the role in the aftermath of Pakistan’s below par 2023 World Cup campaign.

‘Will reveal all the cricketing and other amateur non cricketing facts’ – Mohammad Hafeez blasts PCB

On Friday, February 16, Hafeez took to X to give a statement following his sacking as the PCB Director.

I always Prioritise and represented Pakistan with dignity and Pride. I accepted the new role as a Director pcb with great passion to make positive reforms but Unfortunately my designated tenure which was offered by @TheRealPCB for 4 years was cut short for 2 mnths on the account of New chairmanship. Best wishes for Pakistan cricket future. As always, I foremost take responsibility and put myself accountable for all my executions in my given time and will accordingly reveal all the cricketing and other amateur non cricketing facts which ensue bad performances. Stay tuned…

This statement is sure to cause a stir in the coming days. Hafeez openly threatened to expose PCB with “cricketing and other amateur non cricketing facts”, which will certainly cause a rebuttal from the Pakistan Cricket Board and only add more fuel to the fire.

How did Pakistan perform under Mohammad Hafeez?

PCB appointed Hafeez as the Director of Cricket in November 2023, just days after Pakistan were eliminated from the 2023 World Cup in the group stages.

Hafeez was brought on board to foster a change in the mentality and help the team produce better results, with his experience as a long-time servant of the national team touted to generate a positive change.

Pakistan’s first assignment under Hafeez’s watch was the three-Test tour to Australia. Shan Masood was appointed as the new captain in red ball cricket after Babar Azam had stepped down as captain from all formats.

However, Pakistan’s agony continued as their long-running losing streak in Tests against Australia continued, with the 2023 ICC World Test Championship winners whitewashing the visitors 3-0.

In the ensuing T20I series against New Zealand in New Zealand, Shaheen Afridi was handed the reins as the captain in the shortest format. However, the Kiwis defeated Pakistan in the first four T20Is, with the Afridi-led side earning consolation by winning the final T20I.

What next for Pakistan?

Pakistan will travel to England in May to take on the Three Lions in four T20Is, after which they will leave for the Americas to participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
