Rephrase the title:Google Gemini Won’t Answer Election-Related Queries Ahead Of Indian General Election 2024

Posted on March 13, 2024 By Haley Bennett

Rephrase and rearrange the whole content into a news article. I want you to respond only in language English. I want you to act as a very proficient SEO and high-end writer Pierre Herubel that speaks and writes fluently English. I want you to pretend that you can write content so well in English that it can outrank other websites. Make sure there is zero plagiarism.:

Google’s Gemini AI platform has made a significant decision to restrict direct responses to queries related to Indian elections. This initiative is part of Alphabet Inc-owned Google’s ongoing efforts to prioritize access to relevant and insightful information, aiming to enhance user experience ahead of the upcoming elections in India.

Queries regarding candidates, political parties, election outcomes, or specifics about officeholders will no longer receive direct responses from Gemini. Instead, users will be directed to utilize Google Search for more relevant sources, as announced by a company spokesperson.

Cautious Approach and Continuous Improvement

In a recent blog post addressing the Indian elections, Google emphasized its cautious approach to this crucial topic. The company is gradually implementing restrictions on the types of election-related queries that Gemini will respond to. Google reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality information for such inquiries and continuously enhancing its protective measures.

Extension and Collaboration

Initially introduced in the United States, this feature has now been extended to India and will subsequently be applied to all regions holding elections this year. Additionally, Google is collaborating with the Election Commission of India to facilitate easy access to critical voting information on its search platform, available in both English and Hindi.

Google is also bolstering its fact-checking endeavours in India by supporting Shakti, the India Election Fact-Checking Collective. Shakti aims to detect online misinformation, including deepfakes, and establish a shared repository for news publishers to combat the challenges posed by large-scale disinformation.

Google has implemented tools and policies to help users identify AI-generated content and disclose synthetic content in election ads. The company ensures that every image generated through its products includes embedded watermarking with Google DeepMind’s SynthID technology.

Verification Process for Advertisers

Individuals running election-related advertising on Google’s platforms must undergo identity verification and provide pre-certification issued by the ECI or its authorized entities for each election ad. In-ad disclosures are also mandatory to indicate the entity responsible for funding the advertisement.
