Is there a backup day for SA vs AUS World Cup semifinal? What will happen if the match in Kolkata is rained out?

Posted on November 16, 2023 By Haley Bennett

South Africa and Australia are set to clash in semi-final 2 of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The winner of this match will go on to face India in the finals, as India defeated New Zealand to secure their place in the summit clash.

Both South Africa and Australia finished the league stage with seven wins, making them equally strong contenders for the semi-final.

However, there are chances of rain, as the conditions were overcast and the ground was under covers as a precaution. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that all the World Cup 2023 knockout matches, including the South Africa versus Australia semi-final, will have a reserve day in case the fixture does not get completed on the original day.

In the event of a match abandonment, the team that ended the league stage at the higher position will be declared the winner. With South Africa finishing at the second position on the points table after the conclusion of the league matches, one place higher than Australia, they would advance to the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023.

According to Dafabet odds, Australia is the favorite to win the match. Cricket fans can also make their predictions and play Dafabet’s CWC 2023 predictor game, with the opportunity to win Apple gadgets and big INR prizes.
