As a power user, your chatbot might have more than a thousand chats with you by Christmas 2024. Imagine your surprise while prompting for a vacay, it remembers every little detail about your preferences, pending work, and more. Seems G-d-send! You won’t have to punch in every single detail each time you prompt the bot. OpenAI’s latest announcement that ChatGPT will store memories of your conversation has excited users. The memories are entirely up to the users to turn it off or on. The memories can be viewed and/or deleted as well. It will be available in the ‘personalization’ tab. ChatGPT will allow the users to have temporary chats as well, which won’t store the conversation in memory. Per OpenAI, the feature is rolled out for ChatGPT Plus subscribers and limited free users.

While this certainly doth solve some issues and save some time, many users are still irked by ChatGPT going bonkers and completely ignoring custom instructions. Many users slammed the product for becoming unbearably lazy. One user jokingly suggested ChatGPT not remember all the bad names they called the bot for testing purposes.
