Google is set to roll out a new feature in the Gmail Android app, aimed at addressing the issue of unwanted or promotional emails cluttering users’ inboxes – an unsubscribe button. The feature is still in development and not widely available, with no information on its availability on iOS devices.
According to a report from AssembleDebug on TheSpAndroid, the Gmail unsubscribe button is being developed in the latest version of the Gmail app on Android. Positioned next to the sender’s information, a simple tap on this button will efficiently unsubscribe users from future emails.
The report also notes an update for Gmail on desktop, where an unsubscribe button will be automatically added to messages if an unsubscribe link is detected within the message. For mobile users, finding the unsubscribe button is as easy as tapping the three-dot menu icon.
The clear ‘Unsubscribe’ button is expected to be part of the latest Gmail update (version 2023.11.12) for Android smartphones, as reported by AssembleDebug.
As Google works on improving the email experience for its users, this new feature is anticipated to make managing unwanted emails a simpler and more streamlined process.
