Devdutt Padikkal was born in July 2000 in Edappal, Kerala. After his parents moved from Hyderabad to Bengaluru in 2011, Padikkal trained at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC), representing the state at various age levels.

Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Padikkal scored 473 runs in 15 innings and picked up the Emerging Player of the Season award. He was selected to play for India in a T20I series against Sri Lanka in 2021. He will be playing for Lucknow Super Giants in the 2024 IPL, after two seasons at Rajasthan Royals.
