Rephrase the title:’Typical Indian pitch’ – Rohit Sharma gives his verdict on Dharamshala wicket for India vs England Test

On Thursday, March 7, India and England will face off in the fifth and final Test match of the sides’ bilateral series at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

Bet here on India vs England and other cricket matches!

England drew first blood in the first Test at the end of January as they won by 28 runs in Hyderabad. However, they suffered back-to-back defeats by 106 runs and 434 runs in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot before trying to keep the series alive in Ranchi.

However, the visitors were thwarted again, as Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill performed superbly to take India over the line in a tricky fourth-innings chase, and seal the series.

Rohit Sharma gives his verdict on Dharamshala wicket for India vs England Test

After a slightly flat wicket in the first Test, India have won the next three matches on tracks with a bit more turn for the spinners, and some loss of pace later on days four and five. The focus in Dharamsala is also on the pitch, as the venue has traditionally been a bit favourable to pace bowling.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma spoke about the wicket for the first time during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday. He said,

I have not played a Test match here in Dharamsala. Both seamers and spinners played back in 2017 Test. Looking at the pitch, it looks like a good pitch. It will be a typical Indian pitch with some movement at start and towards the end.

This ground has hosted just one Test match, back in March 2017. India beat Australia by eight wickets after bowling them out for 300 & 137. The match was Kuldeep Yadav’s Test debut, and India’s spin attack then was the same as in this series; Kuldeep, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
