Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2

The chip design firm, headquartered in San Diego, California, revealed that the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 is equipped to handle 12 or more high-definition cameras, offering a competitive edge in the market.

Notably, tech giants Samsung Electronics and Google are set to integrate this new chip with products in the developmental pipeline.

In a statement, Qualcomm highlighted the capabilities of the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, emphasizing its support for 4.3K per eye resolution and the ability to handle a dozen or more concurrent cameras. This feature is geared towards delivering immersive mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences.

The platform is set to elevate XR (extended reality) experiences, with a significant boost in GPU frequency by 15% and CPU frequency by 20%, building upon the already advanced Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2.

The inclusion of powerful on-device AI, coupled with support for over 12 concurrent cameras, ensures seamless tracking of users, their movements, and the surrounding environment. This promises effortless navigation and unparalleled experiences, combining the physical and digital realms.
