Rephrase the title:Meta Removes 26 Million Problematic Posts In India; Compliance Report Reveals Numbers

Posted on February 4, 2024 By Haley Bennett

Rephrase and rearrange the whole content into a news article. I want you to respond only in language English. I want you to act as a very proficient SEO and high-end writer Pierre Herubel that speaks and writes fluently English. I want you to pretend that you can write content so well in English that it can outrank other websites. Make sure there is zero plagiarism.:

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, revealed that it removed more than 19.8 million pieces of content for Facebook and over 6.2 million pieces for Instagram in India during December 2023.

From December 1 to 31, Facebook received 44,332 reports, Meta emphasized its commitment to providing users with effective tools to resolve issues, citing that it facilitated resolutions in 33,072 cases. These tools encompass pre-established channels for reporting content violations, self-remediation flows enabling users to download their data, and avenues for addressing hacked account issues.

Out of the 11,260 reports requiring specialized review, Meta scrutinized the content in line with its policies. The company took action on 6,578 reports, while the remaining 4,682 reports were reviewed but may not have resulted in action, as stated in Meta’s monthly compliance report in adherence to the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

For Instagram, Meta received 19,750 reports through the Indian grievance mechanism. In response, the company provided tools for issue resolution in 9,555 cases.

Similarly, Meta conducted specialized reviews for the 10,195 reports on Instagram, taking action on 6,028 reports. The remaining 4,167 reports were reviewed but might not have led to any specific action.

Compliance with IT Rules 2021

Under the IT Rules 2021, major digital and social media platforms, with over 5 million users, are mandated to publish monthly compliance reports. Meta outlined its approach to measuring content actions against its standards, which may involve removing content from Facebook or Instagram or applying warnings to photos or videos that could be disturbing to certain audiences.

In contrast, Meta’s content removal numbers for November stood at over 18.3 million for Facebook and 4.7 million for Instagram across the specified policies. The disclosure underscores Meta’s ongoing efforts to enforce content standards and comply with regulatory guidelines.
