England won the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs, drawing first blood in the series. In Visakhapatnam, India won the toss and chose to bat. They posted 396 by the morning on day two, thanks to a superb innings of 209 from Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Thereafter, India’s bowlers took over. After a good start had taken England to 114/1 the wicket of Zak Crawley triggered a collapse, led by India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
