Rephrase and rearrange the whole content into a news article. I want you to respond only in language English. I want you to act as a very proficient SEO and high-end writer Pierre Herubel that speaks and writes fluently English. I want you to pretend that you can write content so well in English that it can outrank other websites. Make sure there is zero plagiarism.:

In January, the Grand Slam season kicked off with the Australian Open in Melbourne. From an Indian point of view, the big story was Rohan Bopanna who won the men’s doubles title alongside Matthew Ebden and became the oldest man to win a Grand Slam.

There was, of course, another superb showing in the tournament from an Indian in the men’s singles category. Sumit Nagal qualified for the first round of the tournament and then defeated 31st seed Alexander Bublik in straight sets.

He may have lost in the second round, but Nagal’s performance made one and all sit up and take notice of him. On Sunday, he won the ATP Challenger Chennai Open, boosting his ranking to 98 and making him the first Indian since Prajnesh Gunneswaran in 2019 to crack the top 100.

Gunneswaran was India’s latest singles player to rank inside the top 100 in the world, when he reached his career high of No.75 in April 2019. The first Indian player to achieve a top-100 ATP ranking was Jasjit Singh in June 1974, before Anand Amritraj joined him in November that year.

Prajnesh Gunneswaran 75 2019

India’s highest-ever ranked singles player is Vijay Amritraj, who achieved a ranking of No.18 in October 1980. India has had several players enter the top 100 in doubles tennis, with Rohan Bopanna currently the world No.1.

Sania Mirza is the only woman to rank below 100 in the WTA singles rankings. She achieved her peak of world No.27 in 2007.
