The two sides are led by a couple of stalwarts of Indian cricket in MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Both of these players also have the distinction of playing in every IPL season since the inception of the tournament in 2008. But who else is part of that list?

Apart from Kohli and Dhoni, five other players have played at least one match in each IPL season; Wriddhiman Saha, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Manish Pandey and current Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
All these players have represented India in at least one format, but are coming towards the end of their careers. Almost all of them have played for multiple franchises, with the notable exception being Virat Kohli. He is the only player to spend all 17 IPL seasons at a single team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Piyush Chawla (2022), Ravindra Jadeja (2010), Robin Uthappa (2023) and Amit Mishra (2022) have all missed the IPL in just one season. Ajinkya Rahane has not played in every IPL season to date, but has been part of a squad in each year. 2010 was the one year in which he remained on the bench all season for Mumbai Indians. R Ashwin and Ishant Sharma have also been part of a squad in every edition.
