PteroDynamics Conducts Sea Trials with US Navy, Demonstrates Autonomous Landing on Moving Target
PteroDynamics, a leading company specializing in autonomous vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft systems, recently completed successful sea trials with the US Navy. The trials showcased the impressive capabilities of its Transwing drone, specifically demonstrating autonomous landing on a moving target.
The Transwing drone features a unique dihedral folding wings design, providing exceptional range and increased cargo capacity.
During the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command U.S. 4th Fleet Hybrid Fleet Campaign Event, PteroDynamics conducted a demonstration of the drone’s advanced capabilities. The trials, held over six days starting October 8, involved nine autonomous launch and recovery demonstrations, highlighting the drone’s potential for ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore logistics and critical maritime resupply missions.
The event was attended by distinguished representatives from various naval forces, including the U.S. Navy, the Royal Navy, the Royal Australian Navy, the Royal Netherlands Navy, and the Swedish Navy. Vice Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti was also present.
