Possible Launch of Next-Generation AirPods Max 2 Featuring USB-C Port, Enhanced Bluetooth, and Other Upgrades Expected in Late 2024

Posted on November 24, 2023 By Haley Bennett

Apple is reportedly gearing up to release a new version of its AirPods Max in late 2024, according to a recent report from Bloomberg. The current AirPods Max has been on the market for nearly three years since its launch in December 2020.

Some of the anticipated features for the AirPods Max 2 include advancements in Bluetooth 5.3 and the integration of a USB-C port, replacing the existing Lightning port. The new model is also expected to come in a variety of fresh colors, although specific details about the color palette have not been disclosed.

The adoption of Bluetooth 5.3 in the AirPods Max 2 would bring support for LE Audio, a feature that is already present in devices such as the AirPods Pro 2, iPhone 15 lineup, and the latest Apple Watch models. Additionally, the shift to a USB-C port aligns with European regulations and brings uniformity across the AirPods lineup.

While the specific colors for the AirPods Max 2 remain unknown, the current selection for the AirPods Max includes Space Gray, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Pink. The introduction of new color options could bring a fresh and vibrant look to the popular headphone line.

Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming AirPods Max 2 as more details become available.
