Pitch conditions, historical records, and top scores in ODIs at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi before the Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup 2023 match.

Posted on November 5, 2023 By Haley Bennett

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to face each other in the 38th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The match will take place on November 6th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, India.

Unfortunately, Bangladesh has already been eliminated from the semi-final race. However, they will be aiming to finish the tournament on a high note as their spot in the Champions Trophy 2025 is at stake.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, still has a slim chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. While it’s not impossible, it is a formality at this point.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium, where the match will be held, has hosted a total of 30 international ODIs. It has a capacity of 41,842 spectators.

The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium is well-known for its favorable conditions for batsmen. It offers dry conditions and short boundaries, making it easier for batsmen to hit boundaries. However, as the match progresses, the dry nature of the pitch can assist spinners as well.

Teams winning the toss at this venue often choose to bat first, as they aim to set a competitive total and take advantage of the conditions that favor both batsmen and spinners.

In the previous ODI held at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Australia defeated the Netherlands by a massive margin of 309 runs. Australia posted 399 runs while batting first, with Glenn Maxwell scoring the fastest ODI century in just 40 balls. The Dutch team was then bundled out for just 90 runs in 21 overs.

The highest team score at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs is by South Africa, who scored 428/5 against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, the lowest team score at the stadium is by the Netherlands, who scored 90 all out against Australia in the 2023 World Cup.

The highest individual score at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs is held by Ricky Ponting of Australia. He scored an impressive 145 runs off 158 balls in a triangular series encounter against Zimbabwe in 1998.

The best bowling figures at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs are held by West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach. He took six wickets for just 27 runs in 8.3 overs during an ICC Cricket World Cup match against the Netherlands in 2011.

In terms of highest run-scorers at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record with 300 runs in eight matches. Virat Kohli is ranked second with 277 runs in eight games.

The highest wicket-taker at Arun Jaitley Stadium in ODIs is Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, with nine wickets in seven matches. Adam Zampa of Australia is second on the list with seven wickets in just two matches.

According to Dafabet odds, Sri Lanka is predicted to win the match.
