Right now, VVS Laxman is the interim coach while the Indian team plays a bilateral T20I series with Australia. Both India captain Rohit Sharma and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar advocate for Dravid to continue until the next T20 World Cup. If Dravid accepts the offer, it’s likely that key support staff members will also receive new contracts, aligning with the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. However, it’s still uncertain if he’ll accept the extension.
Former fast bowler and Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra was offered the T20 format coaching job after India’s loss in the World Cup final, but he reportedly declined. Nehra has a strong cricketing record after leading GT to an IPL trophy in 2022 and finishing as runners-up in 2023.
