Graphene Heat Sink Technology to Address Overheating Issues in iPhone 16

Posted on November 19, 2023 By Haley Bennett

Apple is actively addressing reported overheating concerns with the iPhone 15 models by developing a hardware solution for the upcoming iPhone 16. While a software update has already resolved the overheating issues in the current model, Apple is looking to implement a more robust cooling solution in its next iteration.

According to information from Kosutami, Apple’s plan involves incorporating a graphene heat sink and a metal battery casing in the iPhone 16. The use of metal is expected to improve heat dissipation, while graphene, known for its exceptional thermal conductivity, provides a more efficient cooling solution, especially considering the compact design of the iPhone.

Despite exploring alternative cooling methods such as vapour chambers and magnets, Apple has reportedly chosen the graphene heat sink due to minimal design adjustments and cost considerations.

The implementation of a graphene heat sink in the iPhone 16 demonstrates Apple’s commitment to preventing similar overheating issues in future models, although the effectiveness of this solution remains to be proven.

This development comes as Apple continues to prioritize user experience and product reliability in its technological innovations.

Ultimately, the anticipation for the iPhone 16 and its enhanced cooling system creates a buzz among consumers and tech enthusiasts, positioning Apple as a frontrunner in addressing and mitigating potential issues in their flagship products.
