Colorado Experiences Verizon Wireless Service Disruption

Posted on November 12, 2023 By Haley Bennett

Verizon Wireless experienced network disruptions early Friday, affecting many users with data, voice, and text issues. The problem was acknowledged in Denver, but the company assured users it was working to resolve the issue, according to a report by 9news.

While the disruptions were limited to the Denver area, customers experiencing service issues were advised to explore Verizon Wi-Fi calling alternatives. Verizon stressed that most network-related problems are typically resolved within a 12-hour timeframe.

Customers were warned not to contact emergency services, such as 911, to report the outage, as Verizon was aware and actively addressing the situation. Jefferson County’s 911 service issued a statement acknowledging the large outage and directing individuals to contact Verizon Wireless for more information.

Some users reported service restoration around 6 a.m., indicating that Verizon was making progress in resolving the issue. FOX31 reported that a Verizon representative confirmed the service disruption and stated that the issue had been resolved and service was restored.

By 7 a.m., Jeffcom911 confirmed that Verizon Wireless service was operational again, marking the successful resolution of the disruption.

In related news, Verizon introduced a new feature allowing customers to block unwanted text messages last August 29. Users could text “OFF” to 4040 to stop incoming undesirable text messages. This initiative aimed to provide customers with a quick and effective means of blocking spam texts.

The service disruptions come at a time when the issue of spam texts and robocall scams has been a growing concern in the United States. The FCC has implemented bans and policies to combat these unwanted communications, emphasizing the role of mobile service providers, such as Verizon, in enhancing customer security.

In summary, Verizon Wireless faced service disruptions in the Denver area but successfully resolved the issue. The company introduced a new feature to block unwanted texts amidst growing concerns about spam texts and robocall scams.
