Apple is rumored to introduce new iPad models across its entire lineup in 2024, including some equipped with M3.

Posted on November 6, 2023 By Haley Bennett

Apple’s iPad lineup is set to receive a major update in 2024, according to renowned analyst Mark Gurman. In his Power On Newsletter via Bloomberg, Gurman claims that Apple will revamp the entire lineup of iPad models next year. This news comes as a relief to Apple fans who were expecting a new release this year but were left disappointed.

The last update to the iPad lineup was in October 2022, which saw the iPad Pro and iPad Classic receive a refresh for their processors and features. MacRumors reports that previous updates included the iPad Air (5th generation with the M1 chip) in March 2022 and the iPad Mini (6th generation with the A15 Bionic chip) in September 2021.

The highlight of the 2024 iPad lineup will be the iPad Pro, which is expected to come in 11-inch and 13-inch variants with OLED displays and the powerful M3 chipset. The iPad Air (6th generation) is rumored to feature the M2 chip, while the iPad Mini (7th generation) will likely have the A16 Bionic chip. No information is available about the iPad Classic.

Apple’s iPads have a history of utilizing their own system-on-chips (SoCs), with the A-series chipsets being the standard and the more high-end versions featuring the M-series chips. However, there was no update for the iPads in 2023, as predicted by Ming-Chi Kuo.

The most recent update to the iPad lineup was the iPad Classic in late 2022, which featured the A14 Bionic chip. The iPad Pro released around the same time had the M2 chip. Throughout 2023, Apple seemed to hold back on iPad updates, breaking its pattern of regular updates for different models. However, Gurman’s claim suggests that 2024 will be a significant year for iPad upgrades.

Overall, Apple fans can look forward to a revamped lineup of iPads in 2024, with the iPad Pro leading the way with the M3 chip. While some models may receive older M-series chips or new A-series chips, it is clear that Apple is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of tablet technology.
