Dedicated Gaming Chip for PC-Level Performance to be Featured in Samsung’s Next Generation Galaxy Phones

Posted on November 5, 2023 By Haley Bennett

Samsung, Qualcomm, and AMD are reportedly working together to develop a new software called ‘FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR)’ for Galaxy phones, according to an exclusive leak posted by tipster Revegnus on X (formerly Twitter). While specific details about the FSR project remain undisclosed, it is believed that Samsung is preparing it for their upcoming flagship S series phones.

So, what exactly is FidelityFX Super Resolution? FSR is a software that utilizes upscaling and frame generation techniques to improve framerates in supported games. It is highly versatile and can work with a wide range of GPUs, delivering exceptional gaming performance. Currently, FSR is available on AMD Radeon GPUs and is compatible with select games.

The development of FSR for mobile devices has the potential to revolutionize gaming by employing AI to generate high-quality frames and enhance overall image quality by creating additional pixels.

To fully grasp how this technology will operate on smartphones, we will have to wait for an official announcement from Samsung and its partners. However, what we do know is that Samsung has ambitious plans to introduce several new AI features in the Galaxy S24 series, and FSR could be one of the exciting features debuting on these devices.

It is worth noting that Samsung’s collaboration with AMD and Qualcomm in the development of FSR is seen as a direct response to NVIDIA’s DLSS technology, which provides similar enhancements in gaming visuals. The inclusion of FSR alongside ray tracing in future Samsung Galaxy phones showcases the brand’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming.

As we eagerly await more information about FSR on Galaxy phones, it is clear that Samsung is committed to delivering cutting-edge technology and immersive gaming experiences to its users.

In related news, Apple CEO recently confirmed that the company is working on generative AI, with plans for a potential launch in 2024. The race for advancements in AI technology seems to be heating up, with tech giants vying to stay ahead of the curve.
