Rajasthan Royals’ fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna, known for his lethal pace and swing, will miss the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to injury.

Krishna, who played a pivotal role in Rajasthan Royals’ journey to the final in IPL 2022, where he scalped 19 wickets in 17 matches missed the IPL 2023 season due to injury with the team opting for the experienced Sandeep Sharma as his replacement.

The talented pacer, bought for a staggering Rs. 10 crore at the IPL 2022 auction, underwent surgery on February 23rd, 2024, for his left proximal quadriceps tendon, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team, Krishna will commence rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy and won’t participate in the TATA IPL 2024 season.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami who underwent surgery last month, will also miss the upcoming IPL season.

What did the BCCI say?

The BCCI released a statement on Krishan that read: “The fast bowler underwent surgery on February 23rd, 2024, on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the NCA soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming IPL 2024.”

Whereas the update on Shami read like this: “The fast bowler successfully underwent surgery on February 26th, 2024, for his right heel problem. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming IPL 2024.”

Will Mohammed Shami & Prasidh Krishna be available for the T20 World Cup?

It has been reported that Shami will be back in action in September which means that the fast bowler will not be available for the T20 World Cup.

Whereas Krishna’s participation remains doubtful and it will depend on the progress he makes at the NCA.
