According to recent reports, the Indian government is considering reinstating the ban on Krafton’s widely popular battle royale game, Battleground Mobile India (BGMI), within the country. Security agencies have raised concerns regarding the potential exploitation of the game for cyber-attacks or espionage activities, prompting scrutiny of its continued presence in India.

BGMI Ban?

In a recent development, a senior official from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) Cyber Security Group disclosed to News18 that the agency has proposed the ban of BGMI in India, citing potential threats to national security. Although specific reasons for this recommendation remain undisclosed, the report highlights concerns over the presence of Pakistani national Seema Haider and the possibility of data collected by the game being exploited for cyber-attacks within the country.

@BattlegroundmIn Hello Sir/Ma’am
I was not using any type of hack or any inappropriate thing which violates bgmi rules.
For fair side i am requesting you to please recheck my Bgmi ID and give the main issue/reason of ban.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Seema Haider, a Pakistani national, first connected with her partner Sachin Meena while playing PUBG online back in 2019. Their relationship progressed, leading to a meeting in March 2023 in Nepal, where they got married before traveling to India. However, their plans took a turn when the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested the couple in July 2023 for Haider’s illegal entry into India. Additionally, authorities raised suspicions regarding Haider’s potential involvement as a Pakistani spy.

According to the report, the government has forwarded a comprehensive list of inquiries to Krafton to investigate the matter, and the agency is currently awaiting a response from the company. Additionally, it is stated that a meeting scheduled for the coming week will determine the future of the game in India.
