Rephrase the title:Australia vs. West Indies ODI result as Aussies cruise to series whitewash with record-breaking victory

Australia have cruised to an eight-wicket win over the West Indies to complete a 3-0 whitewash in their ODI series.

The Aussies skittled the tourists for just 86 runs as they suffered a horrific batting collapse before the home side completed their fastest run chase ever in the 50-over format at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Australia cruise to record-breaking win over West Indies to claim ODI whitewash

Steve Smith won the toss and elected to field in what turned out to be a brilliant decision as the Windies managed to survive for just 24.1 overs.

The Aussie bowling attack ripped through their beleaguered opponents, who were able to hit five boundaries across their whole innings, while just three batsmen reached double-figures.

Xavier Bartlett once again had a match to remember as he claimed four wickets for 21 runs, as Lance Morris and Adam Zampa also chipped in with two wickets each.

“This is not even close to international standard batting,” Mark Waugh stated on Fox Cricket as the horror show was unfolding in the nation’s capital.

“It’s embarrassing. It was a good batting track – there was a bit of swing around early – but that’s not good enough.

“Individually, those batsmen need to have a long look at themselves.”

Opener Alick Athanaza top-scored for his side with 32 as the Windies slumped to 4-44 inside the first 13 overs before being all-out just over 10 overs later.

In response, Australia reeled in the tiny total with 259 balls remaining as openers Josh Inglis and Jake Fraser-McGurk went ballistic with the willow to smash 67 runs within the opening five overs.

In the process they notched the country’s fastest team half-century in men’s ODIs since 2002.

After being dismissed for 10 in his ODI debut last week, Fraser-McGurk smashed his way to 41 off 18 balls, while he was supported by Inglis who motored to an unbeaten 35.

The match, which lasted three hours as Australia won with 43.1 overs to spare, became the shortest men’s ODI game ever played on Aussie shores.

Jake Fraser-McGurk draws praise after eye-catching knock

“There’s so much Glenn Maxwell in him it’s not funny,” Waugh enthused on Fox as Fraser-McGurk put on a show in Canberra.

The 21-year-old struck five boundaries and three sixes on his way towards a half-century.

“Bazball is so yesterday, it’s now Jake-ball!” Kerry O’Keeffe said.

“That was exciting, wasn’t it,” Smith added of Fraser-McGurk during the post-match ceremony which saw Bartlett claim Player of the Match honours for the second time in the series.

“Gee he hits them clean.”

Following their 12th ODI victory on the bounce, attention now turns to a two-match T20 series against the West Indies, which starts on Friday, to close out the Australian summer.
