Hardik Pandya has been sweating it out and giving it his all as he recovers from his ankle injury to be fit in time for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Pandya has been out of action since October. In a 2023 World Cup group stage fixture against Bangladesh, Pandya suffered an ankle injury which forced him to miss the rest of the World Cup.

Then, he ended up missing the T20I series against Australia and the subsequent tour of South Africa.

He is also set to miss the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, which saw the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the T20I fold.

Pandya took to Instagram to upload a video of him working out in the gym. He was assisted by a couple of trainers and. by the looks of it, the workout session was quite intense as Pandya carried out resistance and weight training in the gym.

What next for Hardik Pandya?

The 30-year-old all-rounder is expected to be fit in time for the 2024 edition of IPL, which will see him return to the blue and gold of Mumbai Indians.

The franchise announced in December 2023 that Pandya would be taking over the reins from Rohit Sharma, who will be captaining India in the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan.

It’s a sign that Rohit (and Kohli) is pretty much in chief selector Ajit Agarkar’s plans for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in June in the USA and the Caribbean.

That comes as a big blow to Hardik’s captaincy ambitions at the biennial tournament, having been Men in Blue’s first-choice captain in the shortest format since India’s exit at the 2022 T20 World Cup.
