Shaheen Afridi clarifies the truth behind viral video of Pakistan team loading luggage into truck in Australia: “We were simply trying to save time”

“Pakistan and Australia gear up for red-ball format showdown as cricket summer begins”

As the summer of cricket kicks off in Australia, Pakistan and Australia are preparing to clash in the red-ball format after two contrasting World Cup campaigns. The Pakistan team is set to tour Australia for a Test series under the leadership of new captain Shan Masood, who was appointed after the conclusion of the World Cup. A new-look squad has been announced for the tour, creating anticipation for an exciting series of matches.

Upon the team’s arrival in Australia, a video of the players loading their luggage into a truck went viral on social media. This led to speculation about the lack of official delegation to welcome the team and whether the players had been left to handle the task themselves due to a lack of hospitality. However, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi clarified in a media interaction in Canberra that there was no such issue. He explained that the team was simply trying to save time, with only 30 minutes left until their next flight, and wanted to help out the airport staff. Afridi emphasized the team’s unity and described it as a family that helps one another.

The Pakistan team’s agenda includes a 4-day warm-up match against a strong Prime Minister’s XI, scheduled to commence on December 6 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. The first Test against Australia will then kick off on December 14 in Perth.
