Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Faf du Plessis, are gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season with the aim of securing their first-ever championship trophy. Like other teams, RCB has released their list of retained and released players in preparation for the 2024 IPL auction.
Surprisingly, Wanindu Hasaranga, who was bought for INR 10.75 crore in the 2022 IPL auction, is among the released players. Hasaranga had a successful debut season, taking 26 wickets, but his performance dipped in the following edition, resulting in just nine wickets. Other notable players released by RCB include all-rounder Harshal Patel, who emerged as the purple cap winner in IPL 2021, Josh Hazlewood, Anuj Rawat, and Siddharth Kaul. Additionally, the Bangalore-based franchise traded Shahbaz Ahmed to Sunrisers Hyderabad, bringing in Mayank Dagar as a replacement.

The mini-auction for IPL 2024 is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19, 2023, providing an early glimpse into the strategies and team compositions for the upcoming season.
